THEATRE
Asolo
Repertory Theatre offers year round professional theatre. A rich
history and long legacy propel the highest quality of professional
theater and education. A member of the prestigious League of
Resident Theatres (LORT) the recent partnership with the FSU School
of Theatre to mentor MFA in Acting program has resulted in the
acclaimed FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training. Performance
venues include the
Historic Asolo Theatre, Cook Theatre & Mertz Theatre.
MUSEUM OF CARS
Located near The Ringling
Museum of Art and the Asolo Theater, the 60,000 square foot museum
features a "living” collection of over 100 automobiles. The
Sarasota Classic Car Museum is a non-profit organization passionate
about the history and preservation of the cars of the 20th
century.
THE RINGLING MUSEUM OF ART
The Ringling Museum
of Art displays European, American, and Asian works of art in its
permanent collection galleries. The collection of Old Master
paintings, highlighted by the Baroque period of the 17th century, is
among the finest in the country. The Ringling Museum also collects
modern and contemporary art, and presents temporary exhibitions from
its own collections and traveling collections in the Searing Wing.
Ca d’Zan
Dwight James Baum was commissioned to
build the home of John and Mable Ringling in the early 1920's. The
Ca d’Zan "House of John" was completed in 1926, and become the
epicenter of current cultural life in Sarasota.
RINGLING SCHOOL OF DESIGN
This Sarasota campus is
known worldwide for it's advanced creative studies and professional
educational values. Offering degrees in 13 art/design related
disciplines, there are numerous art galleries on site and are open
daily for viewing.
SARASOTA JUNGLE GARDENS
Conservation, education,
research and family entertainment welcome you to this 10-acre lush
tropical jungle, featuring trails and entertainment, educational
bird and reptile shows, rare, endangered exotic & rescued wildlife.
Our native Florida Crocodiles, which are a “species of concern,” are
on loan to us from the Saint Augustine Alligator Farm and a local
breeder to use for educational and conservation purposes.
VAN WEZEL HALL
From it's beautiful
bayfront location, this Sarasota landmark Performance Hall has been
entertaining audiences through a variety of theater presentations,
comedy, dance and music for over 35 years. The latest in sound
and lighting systems, the Van Wezel's educational outreach programs
serve the community from toddlers to senior citizens.
SARASOTA OPERA HOUSE
The
Sarasota Opera is an internationally respected producer of the
highest quality professional opera. It fosters artistic excellence
in the Sarasota area, along with assuring outreach programs provide
an opportunity for all segments of the community. Recently
fully restored to its original beauty, the Sarasota Opera House has
become the cornerstone of Sarasota's Theater Arts District.
MOTE MARINE AQUARIUM
Accredited by the
Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), journey the underwater
marine life treasures featuring sharks, sea turtles, manatee,
dolphin and more. A working lab, world-renowned research, eco-tours
and species conservation efforts are only the beginning of the
wonders of Mote Marine.
MARIE SELBY GARDENS
Internationally
recognized, this 9.5-acre bayfront property represents research,
conservation, education, marvelous bay views and display of some of
the most impressive collections in the world. Over 6,000 orchids,

MYAKKA STATE PARK
Myakka River
State Park is Florida's largest natural park, offering canoeing,
fishing, camping, an airboat cruise, a canopy walk and biking among
a diversity of bird and wildlife. Safari tram tours of the park’s
back country are offered from mid-December through May. The Myakka
River flows through 58 square miles of wetlands, prairies and
woodlands.
