2007 President's Award

A licensed Realtor since 1978, Debra Lichter is a dedicated real estate professional, with a sound knowledge base in residential & commercial, waterfront, or mainland properties. She represents clients with total availability, attention to detail, real estate expertise, along with a confident and personable manner. She has participated in a number of unique transactions, including the January 2006 sale of a 1922 bungalow in the historic Riverview area of Bradenton to a former Southern Living magazine home designer.

In addition to real estate brokerage, Debra is a successful investor in multimillion-dollar waterfront properties. She develops the full potential of a property, whether renovating it or knocking it down. She was an investment partner in Whitehall Homes, the builder of Avalon in Palm Aire and Maple Hammock, and brokered the deal when Whitehall Homes sold Villages of Palm Aire to Taylor Woodrow Homes in 2000.

A Florida native born in Miami, Debra received a B.S. in Political Science and International Studies with a minor in Business Management from the University of South Florida. She is a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM), Level One. For real estate properties with an income stream, she was a securities broker and member of the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) from 1986-1995.

In 1981, at age 25, she was recognized in the St. Petersburg Times as the selling broker for the largest transaction in Pinellas County history – the sale of the Pasadena Golf Club to Metro Development of Atlanta, for $10 million, which sold it to US Steel (USX) for $12 million, in a $22 million simultaneous transaction. US Steel developed the property into the Pasadena Yacht and Country Club waterfront community.

An avid athlete, Debra is a "master rower" and certified scuba diver. She was one of the founding families of the Sarasota Crew Rowing Team and president of the Sarasota Crew Booster Club for three years. Her hobbies include spinning, yoga and windsurfing. She enjoys cooking and is a gourmet chef.

She has been a “Parent Connector” for MIT for four years, representing Southwest Florida. She and her son formed a MIT Summer Send-Off get-acquainted program for student and parents in 2002. She is a member of the Women's Council of Realtors, receiving its “Superstar” Award in 2001. In January 2006, she was named chairman of the Sarasota Association of Realtors (SAR) Public Information Committee.
